John Guest Speedfit Fittings and Pipe are being utilized in all new residential army barracks for hot and cold lines and central heating for the prestige 'SLAM' and 'Aspire' projects. Speedfit was specified due to the quick installation time and the permanent leak-proof connection offered by fittings and pipe.
SLAM is a tri-service project, which is delivering modern, high quality Single Living accommodation (SLA) for our Armed Forces personnel across Great Britain. Project SLAM has now delivered 10,000 bedspaces. Valued at over £500 million, the second five year phase started in January 2008 and will deliver some 7,000 much needed single living bedspaces for the UK’s servicemen and women.
Project Aspire aims to provide some 18,000 military and civilian personnel based in Aldershot and the Salisbury Plain area with a fully serviced living and working environment. The construction work is split approximately 38% on new builds, 365 in total – 104 in Aldershot and 261 in Salisbury, 18% on refurbishing buildings and 44% on demolition.
